"Divorce isn't just a legal process — it's a human one. When we approach it with intention and preparation, we can create a life that authentically aligns with who we are."

Hi, I'm Alex Beattie.

I'm so glad you're here. If you're facing divorce — whether you're still deciding, just starting, or already in the process — I created The Divorce Planner to help you move from overwhelmed to empowered with a systematic approach to divorce preparation.

Before I became a divorce prep expert, I spent over twenty years as a film and television producer — managing big-budget projects, negotiating contracts, tracking mountains of paperwork, coordinating with hundreds of people, and keeping projects on schedule and on budget.
When I went through my own divorce, I quickly realized that divorce was just another big production --and my skillset primed me to take control from the jump. I walked into consultations with attorneys and mediators and heard time and time again, "I wish all of my clients came to me this prepared!", and that's when I realized that the system I created could benefit so many others.
I took everything I learned and built a step-by-step system that helps you organize your finances, set your goals, gather your documents, and walk into every meeting with an attorney or mediator prepared and confident.

My approach covers four essential areas: emotional preparation, financial planning, administrative organization, and practical strategizing — so you're addressing the whole person, not just the legal process. I'm proud to say that my program is trusted and recommended by divorce attorneys, mediators, CDFAs, and therapists across North America.
The Divorce Planner Podcast launched in January 2026, and I'm currently writing The Divorce Planner: 8 Weeks to Get Organized, Find Clarity, and Become Your Own Best Advocate (Jossey-Bass/Wiley, January 2027). The Divorce Planner has a social media community of 130,000+, and my work in this field has been featured in The New York Times, Real Simple, and Parents Magazine, and my appearance on the Divorce & Beyond Podcast was their #1 downloaded episode of 2023.

"Preparing is key to saving time, energy, and money. But in divorce, it's about more than efficiency — it's about creating a foundation for your best next chapter."
